Maroon and Pink {Inspiration Board}

Maroon is officially the "it" color for Fall and I just CAN NOT wait! So much so, that I wanted to interpret Fall's favorite color into a wedding. Maroon is so many things, bold, vivacious, romantic, classic, and even rustic. Pair with it what you will, because so many different style variations and moods can come out of this versatile color. I'm loving a romantic maroon, teamed up with soft pinks, feminine touches, and texture - such a gorgeous combo for a Fall or even winter wedding. How do you interpret your maroon?

Red {Inspiration Board}

Today's post is a little different than most, normally I have a concept or single thought around what I'm going to create before going into it. Today, I got stuck on "red". I got stuck on an image that portrayed the gorgeousness that red can be, without the connotation of Valentines Days, Christmas, or any other holiday. I got stuck on the fact that I really do love red, and how gorgeous a red-inspired palette can be away from all the cliches. So today, there's no concept, simply the gorgeousness of pure red in it's many and varied, sassy, romantic, fiery, and classic styles. More red, here, here, and here.

A Whisper of Color {Inspiration Board}

This gorgeous array of inspiration originally came to me two ways 1) the romantic floral arrangement positioned front and center 2) "a whisper of color", a beautiful phrase that just captured me the other day. These two lovely creations worked together so nicely to style an understated romance with just "a whisper of color" through out. I threw in a pop of pink from the bridesmaid dresses to bring the look to life. I have another stunner here, that exemplifies the perfect combination of understated romance and absolutely chic details.

Confetti {Inspiration Board}

CONFETTI!! That word, especially with a few exclamation marks makes me very happy. It gives you the immediate feeling of celebration and joy. Confetti is popping up all over the place, and not only in the truest sense of what "confetti" is, but in the designs of fashion, decor, stationery, and even food. Incorporating confetti into a bridal shower, bachelorette weekend, and EVEN your wedding, just screams fun. Plus, the addition of confetti makes for some AH-mazing photo opps - trust me on this one. So take a peak below, and peruse some gorgeous confetti and confetti-inspired designs that are applied in the most unassuming ways. I also have a swoon-worthy wedding with a little whimsey, some purple tulips, paper airplanes, and of course confetti...right here!

Neon Inspiration

Neon is huge this Spring and it's not just for runways.  Just a touch of neon to your wedding makes a big statement.  Here are some ideas on how to incorporate the punchy hues.  Don't miss the DIY neon vase instructions on Refinery 29.

Pastel Wedding Inspiration

Do pastel colors and Easter go hand in hand for you like they do for me?  I'm a big fan of the bold, bright color trend this season, but have an equal respect for soft, feminine pastels.  With Easter coming up this weekend, it couldn't be more perfect timing to give some love to pastels.  Have you completely crossed over to the bold side or do you still have a long lost love for these soft hued babies?

Succulent Inspiration

I've been coming across so many great uses for succulents lately.  They were a big trend last year, and are showing no signs of going anywhere.  From hanging terrariums to DIY wreaths and place card holders, these ideas go beyond the norm.  Will you be using succulents in your wedding decor?  How?

Art Deco Wedding Inspiration

I've been a fan of Art Deco since I was a student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. When choosing an era for a quarter long study project, I focused on the geometric period, researching it's principles in all aspects of design from architecture to fashion.  Today's board pulls from the skyscraper stepped pattern which was born out of the Art Deco era. Add some sun rays and beading, and your look is complete!  p.s. I LOVE these bridal gowns.

Elegant Polka Dot Inspiration

I love patterns, especially stripes and polka dots for their graphic and pure quality.  However, polka dots are not often done in a traditional or classic aesthetic.  This week I wanted to demonstrate how polka dots can be used in an elegant way for a simply chic wedding design. Pairing pink, black, white and gold truly kept the look refined.  What do you think?  Ready to incorporate some dots into your wedding design? Bonus: there is a tutorial on how to make the dotted envelopes via the link below!

Preppy Picnic Inspiration Board

Christy and I are working on a fun project over the next couple of months, and I've been gathering inspiration to come up with the overall design concept.  So here's a sneak peak of what's to come!  It's all the way preppy, bright and gingham.  Can you guess what we are working on?

Red + Cream = Valentine Dream

Valentine's Day is just around the corner... the perfect excuse to finally create a board inspired by this gorgeous red faux fur coat.  What a great look for a bride, right?! It's been sitting in my files for a while now, just waiting for this lovely opportunity.  Paired with cream, the duo walk a fine line between sultry and sweet.  Aren't we all a bit of both anyway?

Banana + Mint Inspiration Board

Today I wanted to put a twist on traditional color combo, yellow and green.  By muting the usual tones to banana and mint shades, we end up with a look that is a bit retro, a little vintage, yet still a very modern via the unexpected usage, i.e. mint dishware, banana bound books, and a nontraditional bridal gown.  What do you think? Any other color combo's you'd like to see twisted?

Nautical Inspiration Board

This weeks inspiration board is inspired by my husband and my close friends, Sloane and Samantha... Who, recently got engaged!  That's them in the pic. Aren't they a cute couple?! Both originally from Michigan, Sloane grew up sailing with his father on the great lake, while Samantha was raised in a small lake front town.  Their love for each other and the water blossomed when they moved across country to Laguna Beach, California.  There, Sloane lead all of us on fun sailboat excursions about the Pacific ocean.  Samantha and I had plenty of girl chats about how their "one-day" wedding would look, and there was no doubt it would have a nautical, yet elegant theme. As soon as I found out they were engaged, I was on the computer collecting inspiration.  I decided to put together this board dedicated to them and their sailing past.  Congratulations Sloane and Sam, this one's for you!
